THE WEEKEND WILL BE A CHILLY ONE FOR HAMPTON ROADS, BUT WE SHOULD SEE PLENTY OF SUNSHINE... RAIN CHANCES INCREASE AS WE HEAD TOWARDS THE MIDDLE OF NEX

The cold front that moved through the Mid-Atlantic States on Friday didn't bring much rainfall with it to most of Hampton Roads. That was no surprise as a westerly downsloping wind flow caused the precipitation to lessen as the system crossed the Appalachian Mountains. November will turn out to be a very dry month overall as we've only picked up a little over a half inch of rainfall this month. However, one must keep in mind that for the year, we are still running well above normal. The chilly air mass will be around for the entire weekend and a slight warm up is expected as we move towards mid-week. Rain chances will begin to rise on Tuesday ahead of the next frontal system. I hope that we will see higher rainfall totals with this system than we saw with Friday's frontal passage. With all the dead leaves on the ground, we do not want to see conditions get too dry. All you need is a period of windy weather and with the low humidity levels that are common at this time of year, the fire danger could increase rapidly.
