AFTER A COOL AND BREEZY WEEKEND, THE WEEK AHEAD LOOKS NICE FOR EARLY NOVEMBER... TOMAS' ENERGY IS EXPECTED TO GET ENTRAINED INTO A LOW OFF THE NEW ENG

The pressure gradient between a high pressure area to our west and a developing low to our northeast will create a brisk northerly wind today across Hampton Roads. Temperatures will be on the cool side with partly cloudy skies. The low pressure system that will be developing off the coast of New England will actually become energized from dissipating Hurricane Tomas. This is similar to what happened in the fall of 1991 when the proverbial Perfect Storm formed in this region. This system is not expected to become as intense but Cape Cod could lashed by high winds and heavy rain. The storm is expected to retrograde a bit to the southwest bringing some cloudiness to our northern and eastern regions. Coastal flooding is possible but is expected to be minor in nature. As the high pressure area slowly builds in from the west on Tuesday, conditions should improve across the Mid-Atlantic States. The rest of the week looks quite nice with temperatures at or above seasonal norms. Aside from Tomas, there are no other storms in the Tropical Atlantic. That's it for now.
