THE HEAT RETURNS THIS WEEK... TROPICAL STORM COLIN IMPACTS BERMUDA

With an upper-level high pressure ridge rebuilding to our west, another spell of hot and humid weather seems likely here in Hampton Roads this upcoming week. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 90's by mid-week in the inland areas. Although there will be a chance of a thunderstorm, especially during the afternoons and evenings, dry weather is expected for much of the week. Keep in mind that with all of the heat and humidity around, any storm is capable of producing heavy rain, frequent lightning, and strong gusty winds. A cold front may affect our region late in the week or next weekend. This may result in a more organized area of showers and storms... Tropical Storm Colin is impacting Bermuda today (Sunday) and is actually bringing much needed rainfall to the island. I've seen reports that it has been dry there of late so this may be a good thing for them. Since the storm has remained weak due to shear and some dry air infiltration, no major damage is expected. That's really all I have for now. Get ready for another round of uncomfortable weather which we all should be used to by now. Remember to drink plenty of water if you are working (or playing) outdoors and try to stay cool.
