INTENSE HEAT IS EXPECTED TO RETURN TO HAMPTON ROADS… THE TROPICS REMAIN QUIET FOR NOW BUT THAT PROBABLY WON’T LAST
An upper ridge is expected to slowly build eastward early in the week of August 3rd which should bring very hot temperatures to southeast Virginia. The heat is expected to last through the middle of the week, at least. Before the heat wave, we may see a thunderstorm on Saturday in some spots. On Sunday, we should get a temporary break in the heat and high humidity. Heat will quickly return on Monday and Tuesday with low chances of rain according to the National Weather Service. The tropical Atlantic is quiet for now, but that is expected to change over the next couple of weeks as we should start seeing the wave train begin across Africa and the Eastern Atlantic. The normal start of the Cape Verde season is around the 15th of August. Note that I will not be able to post until Friday, August 8th.
