July 18, 2008: Low Pressure off the Southeast Coast is Being Closely Monitored

A DISTURBANCE OFF THE SOUTHEAST COAST BEARS WATCHING… OUR WEEKEND WEATHER DEPENDS ON THE TRACK OF THIS SYSTEM… EITHER WAY, AN INCREASE IN HUMIDITY LEVELS IS EXPECTED

Forecasters will be closely monitoring an area of low pressure off the Southeast Coast that actually may become a tropical cyclone. Water temperatures in that area are sufficiently warm enough and improving environmental conditions are expected over the next couple of days. Models have it moving N-NE but in situations like these, the track depends heavily on the strength of the system. So, please stay tuned to your local media for updates. Otherwise, high pressure slowly (and I mean slowly) moving off the coast will turn our winds to our more southerly direction which will bring an increase of humidity to Hampton Roads. Our weekend weather forecast will depend on the future track and intensity of this system. I’ll have an update on Saturday on this system. Tropical Storm Bertha is still out there and it is moving further way. Other disturbed areas do exist in the tropical Atlantic so July is proving to be a bit active. Check back in on Saturday
