RIP CURRENT THREAT SHOULD SLOWLY DIMINISH AS BERTHA MOVES AWAY… ANOTHER SYSTEM IS BEING MONITORED IN THE ATLANTIC… WARMTH AND HUMIDITY LEVELS INCREASE FOR US BY THE WEEKEND
While Bertha meanders east northeast of Bermuda, our rip current threat should slowly diminish over the next few days. In the meantime, please be extremely careful if venturing in the water. Another system is being monitored in the Atlantic so please check the NHC site for more details. This could become our next named tropical cyclone. In addition, a weak system off the west coast of Florida is being watched. Now, even if it were to develop into a tropical cyclone, it would run out of water to become an intense system. However, it could become quite a rainmaker for parts of the Southeastern states or the Gulf Coast. There’s even a chance that this system could be drawn northeastward towards our region so stay tuned. Right now, it is too early to draw any conclusions. For our local weather, a light onshore flow should keep temperatures moderate with cooler conditions near the coast. Humidity levels will slowly creep up as we head into the weekend. Even if the system near Florida doesn’t affect us over the weekend, there may be an isolated shower or thunderstorm in spots over the weekend. If anything changes, I’ll post an update.
