EARL MOVES AWAY BRINGING IMPROVING CONDITIONS... THE BRUNT OF THE STORM PASSES OFFSHORE AS EXPECTED... THE LABOR DAY WEEKEND LOOKS GREAT

The track of Hurricane Earl was forecasted accurately and as expected, Hampton Roads faired pretty well. Winds never got strong enough to cause major, widespread power outages. Rainfall seems to be heavier than was expected, especially in inland cities such as Franklin. I'll post my backyard total in my Saturday morning post. The storm weakened from a category 4 hurricane to a category 2. It is expected to rapidly move N-NE towards the New England coastal waters. Forecasters are predicting that we will see temperatures in the low 90's by late this afternoon. That surprises me with all the clouds, rain, and northerly winds this morning. We'll see if they are right. The weekend looks nice as Earl moves away. I'll have an update Saturday morning.
