This weekend, you should be able to open your windows and let the warm breezes blow through your home or apartment. You can do some yard work, play golf or tennis, whatever. High pressure which is almost like a Bermuda High will be pumping in the warmth on a southwesterly wind. Sunday should turn out to be the warmest day with temperatures approaching the 80 degree mark. Meanwhile, a front is draped across the northern part of the nation separating colder weather to the north and the warmth to the south. That front may sink far enough south to bring the cooler air to our northern areas on Monday. Very little rain is expected with this frontal passage. A more significant front is expected to come through on Tuesday bringing some rain to some parts of the area. I'll have more specifics on that in my Sunday morning post. Why do forecasters anticipate another round of winter weather? Well, if you look at the temperature map of North America, you will see that it is very cold in Northern and Central Canada. The upper-level winds will at first bring some of this air into the western states and then later bring it eastward. How severe the cold will be is uncertain at this time but there is the potential for a major arctic outbreak in the east next week. Will that spin up a storm? This is March, a month noted for its storminess.
