SATURDAY SHOULD BE RAINFREE FOR MOST OF US… ON SUNDAY, A DISTURBANCE MAY BRING SOME SPOTS A THUNDERSTORM
The break in the high humidity and heat will continue on Saturday. A light N-NE breeze will make for a delightful day. As the high moves off the coast on Sunday, our winds will turn to the south and at the same time, a disturbance rotating around the upper low to our north will move into the area. This could spark a thunderstorm in some spots on Sunday. The highest chances should be to our north but forecasters aren’t sure about the coverage or intensity of the storms that may develop on Sunday. There is a chance, albeit slight, that some storms may become severe, so please, stay tuned. High pressure builds back in on Monday so things should settle down. Higher humidity levels are expected as we progress through next week with a chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm. The tropics are quiet for now, but we are entering the period when things usually pick up. The Cape Verde season will soon be upon us so we will have to watch the tropical waves moving off Africa much more closely. These are the long-tracked storms that develop in the Eastern or Central Atlantic. I’ll have an update on Sunday.
